| Description |
| SF250 B: Italdraghe vessels whose codes are preceded by the letters SF, standing for “Special Floating”, are specifically designed multi-functional dredgers featuring the very latest in terms of technological innovations. This particular model, destined for Iraq as part of the United Nations’ “Oil for Food” programme, represents the concept of a multifunctional machine. The following brief description outlines its integrated functions that were designed to extend the variety of operations it is possible to perform throughout a range of different fields. |
| The layout of the instrumentation shows the on-board equipment and functions included in the main panel: from left to right, (A) the external illumination controls, (B) the excavation profile sounder, (C) the control, engine and dredging function panel, (D) the directional controls for steering the machine during navigation with wheel controlled piloting (E), (F) the propulsion, dredging control and signalling lights control panel and (G) an exceptionally innovative mobile radio control set which can be used to perform a wide range of operations, such as starting or stopping the engine, engaging the clutch, moving the parking poles, etc, from any position on board the vessel. In order to carry out the main functions described below it is necessary to specifically prepare the machine for the procedures to be performed using the arm of the excavator as a base onto which tools can be simply and quickly fitted on the basis of specific working operations. |

operations requiring the linear removal of inert
material, with the option of unloading the dredged
material at a distance. |
| Nature areas and parks |
| It is possible to fit all types of working equipment onto the excavator arm. This photo, for example, shows a large cutting grab able to cut and harvest bushes and shrubs at a depth of up to 3 metres. |
| This piece of equipment, together with other specifications, such as the hydro-cultivator, are used, for example, in the reclamation, creation and maintenance of areas of natural interest or water and wild life parks. |
| Protecting the environment |
| The machine is fitted with a disk skimmer for collecting polluting liquids floating on the surface of the sea. |
| The pollutant is pumped into special on board tanks that are later unloaded. |
